Notice to all TNCC State Faculty: The TNCC Administrative Procedures must be followed regarding requirements for completion of a TNCC Instructor Course. The following is an excerpt from an email I received from National ENA Course OP’s regarding an instructor course held in Colorado.

From the Administrative Procedures:

Options in the Event of Unsuccessful Precourse Tests:

a. It is possible for a Provider with Instructor Potential to score too low to
warrant continuing in the Instructor Course, but high enough to renew Provider
status. In that event, the Provider will have the option to receive a new
Provider card.

b. For those participants who are given a new Provider card, the Instructor
Course Director must submit a Provider indirect fee to the National ENA
Office along with a second summary performance report listing those specific
participants awarded Provider status. The National ENA Office will
automatically assign a new Provider Course number upon receipt of the
performance report.

ENA State Trauma/Pediatric Chair Teleconference:

The last Quarterly National ENA State Trauma/Pediatric Chair teleconference was held on November 3rd, 2010:

1.ENPC Revision Work Team has their updates posted the ENA website under the ENPC tab. They are currently planning for the  roll out to occur in 4th quarter 2011.  The roll out will occur via computer testing using ENA’s new LMS system. The triage station will no longer be a tested station, and the Jeopardy Review will be eliminated.

2.Course Reports are available online from the ENA website under the Course Director tab.  See the August 2009 CourseBytes for access directions.

3.As of April 30th, 2010, the CATN-II course will no longer be supported by ENA.  The “Advanced Clinical Education for Emergency Nurses” (ACEEN) will take its place and will be an on-line educational offering.  If you are interested in being on the ACEEN work team, visit the ENA website.

ENA 2010 Nursing Professionalism Award:

On Thursday September 23rd, 2010, Pamela Bourg, RN, MS of St. Anthony Central, received the ENA 2010 Nursing Professionalism Award prior to the annual keynote address at the ENA Conference in San Antonio.  Congratulations to Pam.

TNCC State Chair Goals for 2011:

1.Continue dissemination of TNCC throughout the entire state. Continue to work with Course Directors who have instructors who do not meet the ENA quality assurance scores.

We just received post course materials, in which Nancy Nurse was monitored as a TNCC instructor candidate. The State Faculty advised us that Nancy Nurse presented her with a document letting her know that she completed your instructor course.

Attached are two emails that were sent to you in regards to Nancy Nurse and that particular instructor course. When we received the post course materials from that instructor course, we saw that Nancy Nurse scored an 82 on her first attempt at the written test and that she had been allowed to retest, where she then scored a 98. Both test forms had the same course number written at the top. You were advised that according to the Admin Procedures, there are no retests allowed for an instructor course and that she was not given credit for attending the course, and you were therefore not charged an indirect fee for her.

We have not received any other TNCC instructor course that she attended after the course you held last year, and before the course where she was monitored as an instructor candidate. Can you please let me know if Nancy Nurse attended another TNCC instructor course, and if so, when and where that occurred. We need to rectify this situation right away.
